What is the NEA RA?
Annual Meeting: The Annual Meeting is the four-day period of time that includes the Representative Assembly.
The NEA Annual Meeting brings approximately 10,000 people – delegates and their families, exhibitors, press, visitors, and Association staff – into the host city for a week of intensive activities. More than 300 meetings are held, including the Representative Assembly, state delegation meetings, special committees, special interest caucuses, and numerous allied groups. In addition, many social functions are scheduled during the Annual Meeting.
Representative Assembly: The National Education Association Representative Assembly – the RA – is the highest decision-making body within the over 3 million-member NEA. With over 8,000 delegates, the RA is also the world’s largest democratic deliberative body.
Over the course of multiple sessions spanning four days, RA delegates debate the vital issues that impact American public education and set Association policy and activities for the year ahead.
